Oversees fiscal / administrative management, personnel administration, individual donors and fundraising events. Provides supervision for Assistant.
Mission
The Audre Lorde Project (ALP) is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming (LGBTSTGNC) People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the New York City area. Through mobilization, education and capacity-building, we work for community wellness and progressive social and economic justice. Committed to struggling across differences, we seek to responsibly reflect, represent and serve our various communities.
Responsibilities
Coordination of Individual Donor Fundraising and Events
*Develop and identify emerging opportunities and coordinate organization-wide efforts to identify and solicit contributions from individuals, including major (and other) donor prospects. Assist in scheduling asks, and scheduled mail appeals.
*Staff the organization’s Fundraising Committee, including coordination of meeting minutes.
*Coordinate all aspects of organizational fundraising events, in conjunction with relevant volunteer committees, including an annual major donor event and community fundraiser/gala.
*Oversee management of donor data including: generation of donor analysis reports and regular income reports, and coordination of timely maintenance of donor database.
*Coordinate production of annual report.
Fiscal / Administrative Oversight
*Develop, review, revise and ensure compliance with organizational fiscal policies (including the maintenance and updating of the policies & procedures manual).
*Maintain organizational compliance with insurance policies.
*Oversee regular processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
*Manage administration of employee benefits including enrollment and renewals, and oversee maintenance of personnel and consultant files.
Other Duties
*In conjunction with the Executive Director, interview, hire/screen, train, supervise and evaluate relevant staff, consultants and volunteers.
*Represent the organization at meetings and events as requested.
*Supervise volunteers and consultants as needed.
*Participate in staff meetings and other collective staff responsibilities.
*Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
·
Commitment
to organizational mission/guiding principles and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit,
Trans and Gender Non Conforming (LGBTSTGNC) People of Color (POC) communities.
·
Knowledge
of LGBTSTGNC POC, LGBTSTGNC and POC organizations, resources and issues in the
NYC area.
·
Knowledge
of social justice organizations, resources and issues in the New York City
area.
·
Knowledge
of overseeing and providing fiscal oversight for organizational and program
budgets.
·
Experience
in developing fundraising strategy, from a grassroots fundraising perspective
·
Experience
coordinating individual donor program and planning and coordinating special
events.
·
Experience
working with staff, volunteers and board members to implement fundraising
plans.
·
Comfort
and experience with communicating with community members, funders, donors, and
the media.
·
Familiarity
with donor database software, preferably Raisers Edge 7.
·
Familiarity
with financial database software, preferably Fund EZ 7.0
·
Knowledge
of nonprofit financial accounting.
·
Ability
to work independently, prioritize work, take initiative, manage multiple tasks
at once with attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
·
Excellent
interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
·
Type
30-40wpm; computer literate, with experience using MS Word, MS Excel and
Internet.
·
Ability
to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Compensation
$38,000-$42,000 plus fringe
