When:
Wednesday, November 2, 2022 - 6:30pm

This fiscal year the NYPD received an 11 Billion dollar budget- while schools and social services for our communities were defunded. Not only have the NYPD been financially fortified, Mayor Eric Adams has even used community tragedies of police violence as propaganda to further justify constant police surveillance of our neighborhoods and transit system.

With marginalized communities living in constant police terror, it makes you wonder: How did this start? Are police officers here to protect us or is there another agenda at play? What are our rights?

Join us via Zoom on Wednesday, November 2nd at 6:30PM as we discuss the origins of the police as we know them today and your rights against police harassment- because we do have them! Its time to end police terror now! We are honored to be joined by Donna Heyward, widow of the late Nicholas Heyward Sr., a Brooklyn police brutality activist who agitated after the fatal shooting of his 13-year old soon Nicholas Heyward Jr. in 1994.

Registration is required at www.alp.org/policingKYR. This event is open ONLY to LGBTSTGNC POC. Food vouchers will be provided for this virtual event. Please email anqa@alp.org with any questions or offerings!
